** Position Overview
** This position plays a key support role in the preparation and organization of new material handling equipment for delivery to customers. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, staging and washing units prior to make-ready, organizing and inventorying aftermarket attachments (forks, clamps, industrial batteries, etc.), and delivering required parts and attachments to Technicians performing make-ready work in the shop.
** Reporting & Supporting Positions:
** The Yard Specialist will report directly to Corporate Asset Manager, or the Director of Sales in their absence.
** Essential Duties and
Key Responsibilities:
**** New Equipment Preparation & Handling:*
* • Load and unload new forklifts and related equipment from trucks and trailers safely.
• Coordinate with transportation when new/used units arrive and leave the location.
• Deliver attachments and parts from the yard or storage areas directly to technicians preparing units in the shop.
** Used Equipment Preparation & Handling:*
* • Load and unload used units that may not run
• Organize used equipment section of yard
• Bring completed units to staging area
• Locate, as needed, attachments on yard
• Take pictures of units as they come in and before they leave
** Organization & Inventory:*
* • Receive, inspect, and properly store aftermarket attachments, forks, industrial batteries, chargers, and related items.
• Keep yard and storage areas organized, clean, and secure.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of equipment and attachments on hand.
** Support & Coordination:*
* • Work closely with shop service technicians, shop manager, transportation, and parts department to ensure timely flow of attachments and equipment needed for make-readies.
• Assist with new & used moving units within the yard and shop as directed.
• Identify equipment ready for make-ready and stage it in the designated areas.
** Safety & Compliance:*
* • Follow all company safety policies and procedures while operating equipment or performing job duties.
• Inspect equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) used in daily work to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain cleanliness of the yard, wash bay, and surrounding areas to promote safety and efficiency.
• The incumbent must be able to operate all forklifts and allied material handling lines carried by Darr Equipment.
** Minimum Education, Skills, and Professionalism*
* • High School Diploma/GED is required.
• A general knowledge of forklifts and forklift certification is required.
• A working knowledge & understanding of safety procedures when loading and unloading equipment.
• Experience in a yard, warehouse, or equipment handling environment preferred.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Basic knowledge of warehouse inventory practices.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
** Working Conditions
** Seventy (70%) of the time is spent outside in the yard in all kinds of weather and in the wash bay. There are rock and gravel areas that equipment is stored on. There are noise, fumes, dust and heat in the shop and warehouse where approximately thirty (30%) percent of the time is spent.

Physical requirements include walking, climbing, lifting, reaching, pushing for most of the working day. It is required to lift 50 pounds.
A waist lifting belt is necessary and worn all day. Normal vision, good speaking and hearing will help in face-to-face communication. It is necessary to wear steel toe shoes, use required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, etc.), and have rain gear available.
