Millwork Purchaser

This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchaser
, located in Irvington, NJ. The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, products, supplies, and services required to support Bestmark National’s millwork manufacturing and construction projects.

The Purchaser will work closely with Project Management, Estimating, Production, Accounting, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing, coordinate material availability, and ensure purchases are delivered in accordance with project requirements and schedules.

• Review project requirements, drawings, specifications, material lists, and purchase requests to determine purchasing needs.
• Source materials, hardware, components, supplies, and specialty products required for millwork and construction projects.
• Obtain and compare vendor quotations based on pricing, quality, availability, lead time, and project requirements.
• Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to confirm pricing, specifications, quantities, and delivery dates.
• Track purchase orders and follow up with vendors to ensure materials and products are delivered according to project schedules.
• Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Project Management and Production to identify upcoming material requirements and potential procurement delays.
• Identify alternate products, materials, or suppliers when necessary to meet project requirements or schedules.
• Review vendor confirmations and invoices for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate department.
• Assist with maintaining accurate purchasing records, vendor information, and project documentation.
• Monitor material availability and lead times and communicate potential impacts to project schedules.
• Support cost-control efforts by obtaining competitive pricing and identifying opportunities to reduce purchasing costs.
• Coordinate with Accounting regarding purchase orders, invoices, and vendor-related discrepancies.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of an effective vendor and supplier network.
• Follow Bestmark National’s quality, safety, and company procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Production Manager.

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, or a related position.
• Experience in millwork, construction, manufacturing, architectural woodworking, or a related industry is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to review and understand specifications, drawings, material requirements, and purchase documentation.
• Strong negotiation, vendor-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Able to work independently and effectively with a team.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects, vendors, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work overtime when needed.
