Training Instructor / Specialist, Learning & Development Specialist
Hydrogen Group is seeking an experienced Senior Instructional Designer to join a collaborative learning and development team on a 6-month contract in Irwindale, CA.
This hybrid opportunity is ideal for an experienced instructional design professional who can take complex learning requirements from needs analysis through design, development, implementation and evaluation.
The roleAs a Senior Instructional Designer, you will work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning objectives and develop effective training solutions for a range of audiences.
You will be responsible for creating complex curricula and blended learning experiences, including digital learning, participant guides, job aids and assessments. You may also conduct job task analysis, facilitate Train the Trainer sessions and provide guidance to other instructional designers.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyze learning needs and translate them into clear program and learning objectives
Design and develop new training curricula, e-learning, participant guides, job aids and assessments
Develop training design documents and blended learning solutions
Partner with subject matter experts and multiple stakeholders throughout the development process
Coordinate learning initiatives from needs assessment and concept development through pilot, implementation and evaluation
Develop engaging digital and virtual learning experiences
Analyze course effectiveness using observations and participant feedback and recommend improvements
Prepare, organize and edit course materials to maintain quality and consistency
Support the delivery of classroom, virtual and webinar-based learning
Coordinate course schedules and provide operational and logistical support for training programs
Identify opportunities to improve learning processes and training effectiveness
Maintain awareness of instructional design and learning technology best practices
Build productive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Mentor or support others in instructional design processes and procedures where required
5+ years of experience developing training programs, curricula or learning assets
Strong instructional design and curriculum development experience
Experience developing e-learning and digital learning solutions
Working proficiency with Articulate and related e-learning development tools
Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
Experience creating training design documents, participant materials, job aids and assessments
Strong analytical and project management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and contribute effectively within larger project teams
Ability to communicate complex technical and non-technical information in a clear, accessible way
Experience working with subject matter experts to define learning requirements and objectives
A Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business or a related discipline is preferred, although an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant professional experience will also be considered.
Experience developing learning solutions within complex or highly technical environments such as utilities, healthcare, military or aerospace would be advantageous. Experience with virtual training and maintaining complex technical curricula is also desirable.
