Responsibilities- Conduct fundamental and applied research to improve or generate new products, components, equipment, systems, tests, requirements, and processes.
- Drive projects by maintaining focus across disciplines and functions on key design aspects, customer needs, system requirements, testing, product growth, and technological trends.
- Apply deep knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to lead product innovation and development.
- Assemble and test prototypes, integrating mechanical and electrical components.
- Interpret and create detailed mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Sustain and support designs across the entire product life cycle.
- Communicate and collaborate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Complete Role Standard Work and deliver all other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred or Solid Works)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and rapid prototyping
- Hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting electromechanical prototypes, preferably sensors
- Hands-on experience in assembly, machining, soldering, and related fabrication techniques for electromechanical component development and testing
- Experience in testing electromechanical sensors and systems in automation and control systems programming (e.g., PLCs)
- Experience with sensor design and integration is a strong plus
- Experience in designing water quality monitoring equipment or components is preferred
- Multi-disciplinary engineering expertise with a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, and flow mechanics
- Be able and willing to work in a fast-paced, agile product development environment—wear multiple hats, be resourceful, and take initiative to get the job done with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in product development, preferably in sensor and automation industries
- Experience with prototype development and CAD-based design required
Physical Requirements
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently sit; occasionally stand and walk
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
