Rubber Process Engineer
Irwindale, CA, US
Experience: Senior Level
Salary: $100,000 - $160,000 per year
We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to support the development and production of high-performance rubber extrusion products. This role will focus on optimizing extrusion processes, improving product quality, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting new equipment and material development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and improve rubber extrusion processes for materials including FKM (Viton), EPDM, Neoprene, and Hypalon
- Support setup, installation, and maintenance of extrusion and autoclave curing equipment
- Work with tooling teams to improve die design, reduce scrap, and maintain dimensional accuracy
- Troubleshoot production and curing issues to improve product quality and efficiency
- Partner with Materials Engineering on testing and new compound development
- Create and maintain SOPs and work instructions
- 5+ years of hands-on rubber extrusion and autoclave curing experience
- Strong knowledge of high-performance elastomers including Viton, EPDM, Neoprene, and Hypalon
- Experience setting extrusion parameters including temperatures, screw speeds, tooling, and dimensional controls
- Understanding of rubber curing chemistry and continuous curing systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
