Location:
This role is remote, with hiring in California, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, or New Mexico to support operational and compliance needs. Occasional travel to California for meetings.

At Rize Credit Union, security isn’t just compliance – it’s protecting our members’ financial lives. We’re looking for a hands-on Systems & Security Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, engineering resilient systems, and responding to real-world threats in a regulated environment.
This is a technical leadership role where you’ll design and implement security solutions, lead incident response efforts, and continuously strengthen our infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
What You’ll Work On- Engineering and implementing modern security controls across endpoints, identities, email, and cloud platforms
- Tuning and optimizing Microsoft Defender XDR, Huntress MDR, and Microsoft Sentinel SIEM
- Leading technical response during cybersecurity incidents – from investigation through remediation
- Designing secure infrastructure and network configurations aligned with zero trust principles
- Developing detection logic, playbooks, and automation to improve response speed and resilience
- Supporting regulatory exams and audits through strong technical design and documentation
- Strengthening backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
- 8+ years in cybersecurity, systems engineering, or infrastructure roles
- Hands-on experience with EDR/XDR and SIEM platforms (Microsoft ecosystem preferred)
- Strong network security knowledge - firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, secure access
- Proven experience responding to real security incidents
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Power Shell, Python, or automation scripting
- Financial services, credit union, banking, or healthcare background
- Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, Microsoft Security)
- Zero trust or identity-centric security experience
- Like building solutions, not just watching dashboards
- Stay calm and methodical when incidents happen
- Can explain technical risk clearly to leaders and partners

Your work directly protects members’ financial security and personal data. This isn’t theoretical security – you’ll help safeguard real people and communities.
Design and implement security solutions, improve infrastructure, and lead technical incident response. This role focuses on building and improving – not just watching dashboards.
You’ll work closely with Technology leadership and help shape how security evolves across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments in a regulated financial institution.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $98,000 - $142,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, technical expertise, certifications, internal equity, and geographic location within our approved hiring states (CA, NV, TX, IL, NM).
As part of the hiring process, candidates who receive a contingent offer will undergo a background investigation, which may include employment verification, credit review, criminal records search, Social Security verification, and government registry checks. Candidates must also meet eligibility requirements to be bonded under a fidelity bond.
