Position Summary:
The EHS Specialist will serve as a member of the EHS Department. This position will support the ongoing efforts to create an Incident and Injury Free Culture at BA while ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal company policies and procedures.
Under the general direction of the EHS manager, the successful candidate provides guidance and handles complex hazard assessments and unique, one-of-a-kind EHS issues that have significant health and safety aspects in support of the BA service activities and products through the EHS Department.
What you will do:
Health & Safety
- Serve as a primary EHS resource for assigned operations and second-shift activities, maintaining a visible presence on the production floor and actively engaging associates, supervisors, and managers on workplace safety.
- Lead workplace incidents, injury, and near-miss investigations from initial response through closure, including evidence collection, employee and witness interviews, review of available documentation and video, causal analysis, corrective action development, and follow-up.
- Support operations when conducting formal root cause analyses using recognized investigation methodologies and tools, including 8D, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Whys, and TapRooT®.
- Drive accountability for corrective and preventive actions resulting from incidents, near misses, inspections, audits, risk assessments, and regulatory findings.
- Support and coordinate workers' compensation case management, including incident documentation, transitional/modified duty, and return-to-work activities.
- Conduct workplace hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and routine EHS inspections to proactively identify and mitigate unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Lead and administer assigned EHS programs, including Control of Hazardous Energy/Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), Electrical Safety/NFPA 70E, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), chemical safety, emergency preparedness, fire prevention, and other applicable programs.
- Lead safety inspections, compliance audits, and other assessment programs; communicate findings and drive timely corrective action.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training to Associates, supervisors, and managers as required by regulation, company policy, or identified operational needs.
