Become a Privacy Compliance Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role you serve as the customer data privacy subject matter expert for SCE’s Customer Service (CS) organization. With the evolving and complex landscape of customer privacy, SCE must fully understand and manage the ongoing demand from customers and third parties for confidential and personal customer data with associated risks.

As an advisor, you will lead and provide guidance across SCE, whether as part of projects or in response to ad‑hoc privacy incidents related to the collection, storage, and sharing of customer data. You will provide expert advice on privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CAN‑SPAM among others), Personal Information (PI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data processing, data sharing systems, authorization, and authentication processes.

This includes developing and supporting the implementation of the privacy related projects.

Incident Management Team Expected Participation: Employees are expected to support emergency response and/or business continuity efforts, including readiness to serve on an Incident Management Team (IMT) when needed. Employees will participate in an on‑call rotation (approximately every four to six weeks) to support IMT activations during emergency events. IMT assignments may differ from an individual’s regular responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of privacy policies and procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure third‑party compliance.
  • Implement policy, standards, compliance, and evaluation activities related to privacy throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the development of corrective action plans related to data compliance issues.
  • Conduct privacy impact evaluations and subsequent compliance activities for the organization’s activities related to consumer data and enterprise projects.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, standards, notices, and relevant data privacy laws and ensure procedures are adequately communicated.
  • Monitor ongoing and future rules on privacy and track the company’s compliance with them.
  • Maintain company‑wide risk assessment procedures and ensure that risks are adequately documented, evaluated, rated, and reported in the risk management software.
  • Prepare audit findings for management and determine opportunities that enhance the productivity of key controls.
  • Pinpoint problems with risk control and adverse trends and report them internally by identifying critical metrics in the risk management software.
  • Ensure the protection of all physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly access and manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in information governance, data management, and/or compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience working with TCPA, CAN‑SPAM, CCPA/CPRA, and other data privacy laws.
  • Two or more years of project management experience, including Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or a related field.
  • Experience in the energy/utility industry.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information, proposals, and recommendations to general, business, or management audiences.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
  • Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
