The HR Services Intern position is a 12-week program designed to introduce emerging professionals to the PEO industry and the world of HR Services as a career opportunity. Our internship program was created to support the next generation of talent in finding meaningful professional development experiences within the industry. You will grow professionally with the support of your direct manager, as well the human resource subject matter experts within the HR Department.
You will also gain exposure to the fundamentals of the various departments at Extensis
HR, interact with other interns, and create lasting connections.
- Compliance and Training Support
- Attend HR Compliance Committee meetings
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements
- Review labor and legislative law updates and provide feedback on how HR policies may be affected
- HR Client-Facing Activity Support
- Own a “Mini BoB” (collaborate with two HRBP’s and focus on four clients)
- Support renewal related activity (create benefit renewal intake forms)
- Handbooks (support on completion of one handbook)
- HRBP Support
- Collaborate with HRBP team to develop policies and processes for their respective clients
- Partner with HRBP Team to gain insight on the client and their current needs
- Shadow and participate with any Client Service Roadmap deliverables
- Ad Hoc Projects, as needed. Preference given to projects which align with interns’ interests and career goals.
- Bachelor’s degree or actively pursuing degree in Human Resources or relevant field.
- 0-2 years of experience working in a professional setting.
- An interest in, or 0-2 years of experience working in, Human Resources is preferred.
- Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Personable, able to comfortably and confidently interact with a variety of work styles.
- Open to learning new information and constructive feedback.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams (or other collaboration platforms).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
With the support of the HR Service Team, intern is expected to complete/achieve the following at the end of the program:
- Write an article for Legislative Monitor.
- Creation of one handbook.
- Creation of one HR policy.
- Shadow all components of a new client onboarding from start to finish.
- Display increased comprehension of HR activities and concepts at the conclusion of the internship.
- Hourly rate of pay $16.00
- Work hours are Tuesday - Thursday, 9:00 to 5:30 in Extensis
HR HQ in Iselin, NJ.
