Director, Threat Assessment

The Director, Threat Assessment plays a key role in safeguarding the organization's people, property and assets by proactively reviewing and assessing workplace safety concerns. This role is responsible for assessing and mitigating potential threats to team members, patients, facility, operations and organizational well-being.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director, Threat Assessment at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Develops policies and procedures in collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Identifies vulnerabilities, analyzes potential risks, develops mitigation strategies and coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure safety and security across the Network.
• Evaluates behaviors, incidents, and potential threats to determine the level of risk and develop appropriate responses.
• Develops mitigation plans and educates relevant stakeholders.
• Reviews and standardizes network mitigation plans, compliance and regulatory, Joint Commission Standards.
• Coordinates and plans Annual Workplace Violence Risk Assessments (ACA/RCA). Prepares and completes collected data and presentations for Chief Hospital Executive (CHE).
• Collaborates with Network Security Director on best practices, external vulnerabilities, and proactive approach to mitigating risk and safety.
• Conducts and coordinates annual education for Workplace Violence (WPV), Security, and training. Ensure necessary compliance of education in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Chairs Anti-Violence Network Committee in collaboration with key stakeholders for data collections, standardizes practices, mitigation strategies, standardizes local WPV committee campus meetings.
• Creates and implements strategies to reduce or eliminate identified risks, including security measures, training programs, and incident response plans.
• Investigates potential threats, manages cases and provides direction and support to team members and leadership.
• Works with various key stakeholders including, but not limited to HR, Risk Management, Legal and Leadership to develop and implement safety protocols.
• Collaborates with State and local law enforcement agencies to continuously learn and adapt to the latest threat assessments techniques and security trends.
• Develops and implements threat assessment education for team members, leadership, physicians and key stakeholders regarding safety protocols.
• Monitors and analyzes threat assessment findings, incident reports and mitigation efforts.
• Reviews WPV injury events and conducts ACA/RCA with local site(s) in collaboration with clinical team, risk management, and Occupational Health.
• Responds to and manages incidents effectively, ensuring the safety and security of the team members and organization.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education,

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or other related fields.
• Minimum of 10 or more years experience as a hospital safety, security or law enforcement experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare leadership role, leading programs, projects and/or teams.
• Strong observational skills and the ability to remain alert and attentive.
• Basic knowledge of security operations, safety regulations, risk mitigation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in data review and collection.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education,

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Master's degree.
• Knowledge of security, traffic regulations and procedures.
• Documented Security Supervisory training.

Licenses and Certifications

Required:

• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Full scale State, County, Federal, and License Check will be conducted every other year.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

• First aid and CPR certification
• CPI (Non Violent Crisis Intervention) Instructor.
