The Northern Moraine Water Reclamation District has an immediate opening for a talented and unique Project Engineer / Project Manager position (exact position DOQ) at it’s innovative resource recovery facility.

This is a salaried exempt position with responsibility encompassing all facets of wastewater engineering compromised of the District’s collections system and treatment plant and will report directly to the District Manager.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent degree. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a prerequisite. Other combinations of education, skills, experience, and certification may be considered.
Starting Salary Range is $75,032 - $108,766 depending on qualifications and certifications/licensure.
Applicant will be responsible for assisting in preparing monthly written and oral reports to the District’s Board of Trustees.
The Project Engineer / Project Manager will assist in undertaking in-house projects generally involved in the repair, replacement, or rehabilitation of facilities from concept to completion whenever possible.
The position will also perform construction observation on District projects, review and management of sewer cleaning and televising work and responsibility for maintaining accurate atlas maps of District infrastructure via GIS software. Experience in drafting and managing permit applications for major capital improvement projects is highly desirable.
Strong computer skills including experience with drafting, ArcGIS software, Computerized Maintenance and Management Software is highly desired. Above all, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
Applicant should be able to show knowledge of the principals and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems.

- Candidates should possess solid Project Management and Project Planning skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and public agencies, and for preparing clear technical documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental orrelated Engineering field;
- Experience with municipal or industrial wastewater systems, construction oversight, and regulatory compliance is beneficial.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software, CAD tools, and MS Office; familiarity with asset management or GIS systems is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site, conduct field inspections, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining safety and quality standards.
