Kindergarten Teacher Job Description
Position Summary:
Support the mission and vision of Summit Classical Christian School to cultivate generations of joyful disciples of Christ, rooted in Truth, to the glory of God, particularly through classroom instruction that disciples students towards the Heavenly Father and His Word.
- Relate to students with the love of Christ, encouraging them to begin and/or deepen a personal relationship with God, and guiding them to love God through their thoughts, actions, and daily life.
- Set clear expectations, establish age‑appropriate routines, and promote self‑discipline grounded in Biblical principles.
- Teach foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and the arts using age‑appropriate, engaging, and classical methods. Incorporate recitation, Socratic questioning, exploration, and discovery to foster critical thinking and curiosity.
- Develop and implement yearly, semester, and daily lesson plans that align with classical pedagogy and the school’s spiritual and academic objectives.
- Monitor student progress regularly and provide feedback, progress reports, and report cards. Maintain accurate attendance and grade records to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each student’s development.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic development.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, organized, and well‑ordered classroom that promotes learning, creativity, and joy.
- Prepare detailed instructions and materials for substitute teachers when necessary.
- Participate in professional development opportunities throughout the year, including all components of New Teacher Training.
- Full‑time teachers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day and remain 30 minutes after dismissal to ensure readiness and provide support.
- Bachelor’s degree required; teaching experience with classical elementary teaching background preferred.
- Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and wholehearted agreement with the school’s statement of faith.
- Commitment to classical Christian education and the discipleship of students.
- A love to make learning inspiring, creative and engaging.
Full‑Time teaching positions are available for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Salary Range$50,000 to $70,000
