About UST

Born digital, UST transforms lives through the power of technology. We walk alongside our clients and partners, embedding innovation and agility into everything they do. We help them create transformative experiences and human-centered solutions for a better world.

Role:
Business Systems Analyst – Associate I

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join a large‑scale, multi‑year enterprise replatforming initiative for one of the nation's largest diversified retailers. This is not a lift‑and‑shift engagement; the program involves a complete reimagining of core retail systems across Hardgoods, Grocery, Apparel, Appliances, and more, migrating from a legacy system to a modern Cloud Platform architecture.

The Opportunity
  • Partner with business subject matter experts (SMEs), operations teams, and product owners to elicit, document, and validate business requirements across assigned functional streams.
  • Translate legacy system behavior, business rules, and process logic into structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules documentation.
  • Produce high‑quality Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and process narrative for each epic and feature area under ownership.
  • Ensure each requirement item receives its own dedicated subsection with full detail, no summarizing or grouping of distinct business rules or behaviors.
  • Maintain traceability between business needs, user stories, and delivered functionality across program phases.
  • Own the development of As‑Is (current‑state) process flows for all assigned functional streams documenting existing workflows, screen logic, batch processes, and operational procedures with precision and completeness.
What You Need
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Functional Analyst, preferably in large‑scale enterprise system implementations or replatforming programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working within Agile / iterative delivery models, including sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and acceptance criteria authoring.
  • Strong background in retail operations, with exposure to one or more of the following domains:
    Grocery, Hardgoods, Apparel, or Appliances.
  • Experience with legacy system modernization, able to read, interpret, and translate legacy screen logic, batch process flows, and business rules into modern requirements.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed, high‑quality BRDs, functional specifications, user stories, and process documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with a structured, organized approach to complex requirement sets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable facilitating workshops and working sessions with senior business stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Google Suite, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite, Lucidchart, or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with retail‑specific systems such as POS, inventory management, merchandise planning, order management, NSI (Non‑Saleable Inventory), or shrink/loss prevention systems.
  • Familiarity with large‑scale replatforming programs.
