Who you are
  • RN/LPN currently licensed in the State.
  • Current American Heart CPR certification.
  • Geriatric/rehabilitation and Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English

General Summary

The RN Unit Manager is an RN/LPN responsible for the supervision of nursing care in the Assisted Living / Memory Care Center.

  • Supervises direct nursing care in the AL/ MC Center.
  • Administers direct nursing care as needed.
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Assures accuracy and completeness of daily nursing documentation (ADL sheets, follow-up charting). Fall follow-up, I/R tracking.
  • Assists with admission of new residents. Does preadmission screenings.
  • Supervises nursing personnel on assigned shifts. Participates in counseling, orientation, discipline, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Responds to emergency calls, as necessary, in AL / MC, Independent Living, and Health Center.
  • Completes monthly pharmacy rewrites in a timely manner.
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
  • “On-call” is required on a rotation schedule.
  • Track infection control for AL/MC
  • Attend Risk Meeting and assures proper follow-up.
  • Assists with recruitment, supervision and training of health care staff for AL/SNF.
  • Provides support for RHS with resident assessment, recommendations, and coordination of care.
  • Submit daily written report to Director of Nursing.
Other Duties
  • Accompanies physicians when making rounds, as needed.
  • Notifies physicians and family of changes in resident’s condition, as needed.
  • Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Risk Management:

    Appointed as Risk Manager role for Briarwood Health Center – Conducts investigations, makes recommendations and implements interventions and policy changes as needed. Works directly with law enforcement and other State agencies as required during the course of investigations. Prepares QA reports for committee.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the workday; must be able to lift, transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weight over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
