Postpartum / OB-GYN RN

Requirements:

• Valid state license required; compact license must be in hand at submission.
• BLS certification.
• NRP certification.
• Minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience; travel experience required.
• Experience with Epic charting system.
• Competency in postpartum care (vaginal & C-section), post-op care.
• Skills in newborn assessment and care, including thermoregulation and hypoglycemia management.
• Experience with blood/blood product administration.
• Familiarity with epidural/post-epidural management, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps.
• Proficient in medication management (heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate).
• Knowledge of postpartum hemorrhage recognition and management.
• Ability to provide breastfeeding instruction and discharge teaching to parents.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive postpartum care for patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
• Conduct newborn assessments and manage normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management.
• Administer medications and blood products per protocols.
• Monitor and manage complications related to postpartum recovery and newborn transition.
• Educate parents on care practices, including breastfeeding and identification of their infants.
• Assist in the management of special equipment and procedures, including wound VACs and drains.
