Overview
The Merchandiser, Purchased Retail Brands drives San Mar's retail apparel business by building strong brand partnerships and leading seasonal product strategies. This role focuses on identifying premium product opportunities for men and women across corporate gifting, executive programs, team and workwear markets. They work closely with retail brand partners and internal teams including Planning, Sales, Marketing, Logistics and Distribution to deliver successful seasonal launches.
The Merchandiser also serves as a key facilitator for pricing negotiations, recommendations, execution and conflict resolution with retail brand partners.
- Act as San Mar’s primary contact for retail brand partners, maintaining clear and collaborative communication.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with retail brand partners to ensure alignment on objectives, compliance, and mutual business success.
- Facilitate pricing negotiations, recommendations, and conflict resolution with brand partners.
- Identify growth opportunities and new product potential across retail brands and premium product categories.
- Apply deep understanding of product, delivery, and pricing needs across key markets, consumer groups, and channels.
- Analyze sales and marketplace data to identify trends, inform assortment strategy, and support category growth.
- Partner with category management and planning to achieve revenue and margin goals.
- Contribute to financial analysis and provide insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Track performance and provide actionable recommendations that drive growth and support San Mar’s long‑term objectives.
- Communicate San Mar’s product and assortment strategies with retail brand partners and internal cross‑functional teams.
- Recommend product positioning and develop seasonal line plans with brand partners.
- Champion product positioning with marketing and sales throughout the go‑to‑market process, including web, catalog, and other marketing materials.
- Maintain line planning, pricing, and product creation documentation including silhouette, color, fit, and pricing strategy.
- Integrate marketplace trends and consumer insights into seasonal concepts and assortment planning.
- Review and approve style details, CADs, and brand prototypes to ensure products align with San Mar’s communicated needs and standards.
- Create and deliver clear, impactful presentations for internal reviews, leadership, brand partners, and sales teams.
- Manage the preparation, coordination, and proofing of sales tools including catalogs, product guides, and meeting decks.
- Plan SKU‑level assortments to balance productivity, inventory, and profitability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in apparel product or merchandising experience.
- Strong knowledge of product design, fabrication, pricing architecture, and brand positioning across managed brands.
- Proven merchandising skills and understanding of the product creation process.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with solid business and financial acumen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary Range
:
You’ll earn between $80,170 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience.
Bonus
:
You’ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

Hybrid:
San Mar’s Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions. Quarterly travel may be required.
