About the Role    Nature Human Behaviour is an online‑only, monthly journal that publishes research of outstanding significance into any aspect of individual or collective human behaviour. The journal has a strong multidisciplinary identity covering research across the social, biological, health, and physical sciences, and places a strong emphasis on rigorous scientific practices.
Do you love science but feel that an academic career isn’t enough to sate your desire to learn more about scientific research? Do you enjoy reading papers outside your chosen area of research? If the answer is ‘yes’ to any or all of these questions, you could be the person we’re looking for to join the Nature Portfolio editorial team.
We are seeking an editor with expertise in computational science or any of the social sciences. We are particularly interested in candidates with a multidisciplinary background, strong quantitative skills, and broad interests in human behaviour research, as the role involves engaging with research in multiple diverse disciplines across the social and natural sciences.
This is a permanent position within the Nature Portfolio. The successful candidate will primarily support Nature Human Behaviour and may collaborate closely with other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Responsibilities and journal assignments may evolve over time in response to portfolio needs.
Responsibilities     Handling original research papers and working closely with editor teams on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
Making well‑reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice.
Contributing to content and strategy in this area at Nature Human Behaviour and other Nature Portfolio journals as needed.
Commissioning and editing content such as reviews or writing editorials.
Liaising extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio and with experts in the international scientific community.
Attending conferences and visiting research institutions.
Qualifications     A PhD (or equivalent) in a field related to computational science or any of the quantitative social sciences.
Additional research experience valuable but not needed.
A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field is essential.
