About The Job
Based at Mandarin Oriental, Milan within the Finance Department, the Director of Finance will supervise all members of the Finance & Purchasing Department, determine optimum control objectives, and install and maintain appropriate internal control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities. The role also involves budgeting, forecasting and finance meetings with corporate MOHG finance and owners. The Director of Finance reports directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities

Direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance, and administration of all financial operations, controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with Group corporate management policy and generally accepted accounting principles.
Play an active role in hotel management, responding to the General Manager and other hotel management team members.
Ensure compliance with the hotel’s management contract terms and conditions, reporting discrepancies to the General Manager and group corporate management.
Identify opportunities to improve hotel profitability, preparing exception reports and analyses to measure success.
Manage, supervise and support all subordinate employees to optimize profitability and enhance guest experience.
Initiate employee development and evaluation programs for subordinate staff to maintain high professional competence and continuity.
Organize an efficient treasury function to manage working capital and cash flow per Group corporate guidelines and the management contract, ensuring sufficient liquidity.
Ensure all business activities comply with general law and all applicable rules and regulations.
Cooperate with the General Manager and the Human Resources department on strategic matters.
Support learning and development activities of the finance and purchasing team.
Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Safe, Sound and Sustainable at Mandarin Oriental.
Act as a hotel ambassador at all times.
Carry out any additional duties requested by management related to hotel finance operational activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
At least 10 years of comparable experience.
Extensive on‑property hotel finance experience.
Proficient in Windows‑based software applications.
Strong Excel skills.
Prioritization and deadline‑management skills.
Effective management, leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; fluency in Italian and English required.
Italian citizenship, structured working experience in Italy, and knowledge of general fiscal principles.
