Diversified Safety Services is seeking an experienced Site Safety Coordinator to join our team and support a General Contractor in Itasca, IL. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive approach to workplace health and safety on a large‑scale, mission‑critical project.
Key Responsibilities- Champion Safety Culture:
Prepare and enforce health and safety policies that build a safe, proactive jobsite environment. - Lead Safety Programs:
Design and implement safety programs, plans, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). - Monitor & Report:
Track safety compliance, document findings, and communicate updates. - Identify & Solve Hazards:
Spot risks early, recommend solutions, and ensure preventive measures are put in place. - Drive Engagement:
Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions to keep teams engaged and aligned. - Stay Present & Involved:
Maintain regular on‑site presence, participate in project meetings, and provide proactive safety guidance. - Ensure Compliance:
Verify that all work follows approved manuals, internal procedures, and contract requirements. - Maintain Documentation:
Keep accurate logs of inspections, reports, and safety correspondence. - Oversee Site Activity:
Supervise subcontractors and contractors to ensure work meets EHS requirements. - Investigate & Improve:
Conduct investigations for accidents, incidents, and near misses; follow through on corrective actions. - Enforce Standards:
Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures at all times. - Support the Project:
Contribute to additional safety initiatives and requirements as needed.
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction
- CPR/First Aid/AED
- 3‑5+ years of hands‑on construction safety experience.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, regulations, and safety programs.
- Ability to produce clear reports, develop procedures, and implement effective safety solutions.
- Excellent hazard recognition, data analysis, and risk assessment skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.
- Professional presence on‑site and ability to lead teams through incidents or emergencies with composure.
