Band Teacher, Substitute

Music & Arts is seeking a passionate Substitute Band Teacher to support school band programs on an as-needed basis. In this role, you'll deliver engaging band rehearsals, follow established lesson plans, maintain classroom order, and provide constructive feedback to student musicians. You'll tune instruments, model proper technique, and prepare students for concerts and performances. Working closely with school staff and Music & Arts reps, you'll ensure a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes musical growth, teamwork, and a strong commitment to music education in the community.

Responsibilities

• Deliver band instruction following provided lesson plans and school curriculum
• Lead rehearsals, warm-ups, and sectionals to develop ensemble skills
• Maintain classroom management and a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Tune instruments and assist students with basic instrument care and setup
• Model proper playing technique, posture, and music-reading skills
• Provide feedback to students on tone, rhythm, and musical expression
• Prepare students for concerts, performances, and assessments as needed
• Collaborate with school staff and Music & Arts representatives on scheduling and needs
• Take attendance and maintain basic records as required by the school
• Ensure safe handling and appropriate use of instruments and equipment
