Engineer II

Pay Rate: $75,000 - $85,000 / year

As Engineer II on the Advanced Product Development team, you will coordinate and develop new internal combustion engine systems, including parts and accessories, primarily for the power generation market. The role involves participation in projects for the development, validation, and testing of design, fabrication, and manufacture of complex systems or processes and coordination across mechanical, electrical, electro‑mechanical, fuel systems, simulation, and controls engineering teams.

• Develop and coordinate component and system validation testing for internal combustion engine projects to analyze durability and design feasibility using statistical tools.
• Understand and translate customer expectations into technical solutions, incorporating forward‑thinking problem solving and data analysis.
• Proactively address design challenges, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient production operations.
• Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate design and testing solutions with vendors, manufacturing operations, customer service, and design engineering teams.
• Lead small projects supporting engineering processes and standards to enhance organizational capability.
• Lead projects supporting Customer Service teams on field issues using the 8D process.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe plant navigation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including travel to other PSI facilities.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in a related engineering position.
• Subject‑matter expertise in the mechanical and electrical aspects of internal combustion engines, including components, accessories, and electrical systems.
• Demonstrated ownership and initiative in troubleshooting, solving design challenges, and acquiring new skills.

• Knowledge of 8D Root Cause Analysis.
• Experience with engine applications for industrial, power generation, or on‑highway markets.
• Familiarity with diverse engine fuels such as diesel, gasoline, propane, and natural gas.
• Experience designing systems with Solid Works and/or knowledge of GD&T.
• Demonstrated success in full life‑cycle design of internal combustion engines and systems, including FMEA and GD&T.
• Experience conducting, interpreting, and documenting testing for design and system validation (DVP&R).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Minitab, Python, Excel) to automate decision‑making processes.
• Strong initiative in tackling complex problems independently and collaboratively.
