The Electrical Design Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity performs all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The engineer in this position must have an aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse oneself in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10-15+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting commercial nuclear, DOE, power generation, or other complex industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical design efforts on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers, generators, switch gear, motor control centers, motors, protective relays, and power system protection schemes.
  • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, and design packages.
  • Proficiency with ETAP or comparable power system analysis software.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, Revit, Navisworks, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and nuclear industry design requirements.
  • DOE and/or Commercial Nuclear experience strongly preferred.
  • Licensure Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-development capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
