The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for overseeing U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance while ensuring accurate and timely quarterly and annual tax provisions. The role partners with external advisors on provision activities and supports the preparation and review of federal, state, and local filings. In a global logistics and transportation company, the position also manages international tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, supporting cross‑border operations and global entity structures.
The Senior Tax Accountant leads tax‑related projects, drives process improvements, and ensures adherence to evolving global tax regulations. The role mentors junior staff and serves as a strategic advisor on tax impacts, risk management, and regulatory changes. It also contributes to special projects related to global expansion, restructuring, and operational optimization.
- U.S. & Multi‑State Tax Compliance:
Assist in the preparation and review of federal and state income tax work papers and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Tax Provision & External Coordination:
Coordinate with external advisors on quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related reporting requirements. - International Tax & Cross‑Border Support:
Assist with international tax compliance, reporting, and cross‑border matters for a global, multi‑entity structure. - Tax Accounting & Reporting:
Prepare tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for financial reporting. - Audits, Risk & Issue Resolution:
Support tax audits and notices, identify and track tax risks, and partner with accounting teams to resolve issues. Conduct tax research, prepare technical memos and supporting documentation, and lead process improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and enhancement of internal tax controls. - Process Improvement & Tax Operations:
Maintain tax calendars and documentation, perform tax research, and support process improvements, automation, and internal controls. - Perform other duties as assigned.

- The wage range for this position is $82,730.00 to $ and may vary based on geography and relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation (preferred)
- 2+ years working in an accounting or tax department for a mid‑to‑large size company or public accounting firm (required)
- 3+ years (preferred)
- Self‑motivated and a critical thinker.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Contribute to a collaborative and friendly culture with a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Researching technical tax accounting topics.
- Experience working with auditors.
- A strong understanding of international tax.
- Cargo Wise or One Stream experience a plus.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – (preferred)
