Float covering:
Joliet, IL Makena, IL, Marionette Park, IL, Palos Park, IL Oak Brook, Tenley Park, IL, Chicago, IL, Evanston, IL and Waukegan, IL.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Schedule:

Candidates will need to be available to work 6AM to 7:30 PM depending location they are covering. Will also need to be available for Saturday hours from 8AM to 12PM.

Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm.

Pay range: $21.10- $23.10.

Summary

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, train and make workflow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities
  • Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correct.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
  • Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
