Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Schedule:

Available to work 6AM to 7:30PM, depending on location. Will also need to work Saturday hours 8AM-12PM. Projected duration: 3 months + potential for permanent.

Benefits available. Pay range $21.10-$23.10.

Summary

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature, placing samples in appropriate containers, accurately labeling, and following specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
  • Minimum six months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience.
