The primary role of the phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can effectively manage multiple tasks while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
• Label specimens accurately and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Primarily work with adults and geriatric patients.

Work Environment:

Training will occur here the first 2 weeks of being hired. Phlebotomist will travel to sites in Float position will be covering a large scale of locations from the Southside of Chicago, Bloomingdale, Arlington Heights, Addison, to the Northwest suburbs of IL. Schedule will be given 1-2 weeks out so they know in advance where they're to report to.

Hours:

Need to be available M-F 7am-9pm with rotating Saturdays from 8am-5pm (They will receive a day off during the week when they're scheduled to work a Sat shift) Saturday shifts occur roughly once/month. Homebase location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
