SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Entry Writer to join our Chicago branch (Itasca, IL). The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in customs entry procedures within the freight forwarding industry. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations while supporting smooth and timely cargo clearance operations.
- Entry Processing:
Prepare and process Customs entries for air and ocean shipments and manage the end-to-end clearance process. - Compliance & Classification:
Accurately classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies like FDA, EPA, DOT, and USDA. - Security Filings:
File Importer Security Filings (ISF) promptly, notify relevant parties the same day, and ensure ISF matching is completed. - Document Review:
Review Bills of Lading and commercial invoices for accuracy to ensure proper data submission. - Communication:
Monitor clearance status and communicate promptly with internal teams and clients regarding holds, exams, or notices from CBP/PGAs. - Operational Support:
Perform additional duties to support department operations and foster a collaborative work environment.
Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Full-time, on-site only (no remote work)
Occasional weekend overtime may be required (non-exempt status)

Salary/Benefit$26.00 – $33.00/hour (Depending on experience)

Qualifications- Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in customs operations or brokerage. - Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in international trade or supply chain is a plus). - Technical Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of HTS, U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), and PGA requirements. - Software
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Cargowise software is preferred but not required.
