Position Summary

The District Trainer leads and develops the produce department teams across the assigned district. The role focuses on training and coaching store teams to achieve operational excellence, drive sales, and ensure customer satisfaction. The District Trainer is the primary expert in produce merchandising and best practices within the district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operational Excellence
  • Proven track record of providing excellent results, showing persistence and perseverance, with proactive, self‑directed action.
  • Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers. Demonstrates care and compassion for people; shows empathy and concern. Builds and maintains positive team relationships, relates well to diverse people, and is approachable.
  • Provides guidance to Department Managers to connect metrics to business processes and focus on continuous improvement strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintains all metrics on the weekly operations dashboard.
Produce Department Training
  • Develops, delivers, and audits comprehensive training programs for store team members on all aspects of produce department operations, including merchandising and presentation standards; product knowledge and quality control; inventory management and ordering; food safety and sanitation procedures; customer service and communication skills.
Team Member Development
  • Recruits, aids in selection of, orients, trains, coaches, and develops Department Managers to achieve store goals and provide leadership talent.
  • Cultivates a culture of high performance and accountability, setting clear performance expectations for Department Managers.
  • Embraces positive employee relations through consistent and fair application of company policies and leadership values.
  • Provides advice and assistance to store teams to enable completion of responsibilities.
Training Store as a Model
  • Maintains impeccable merchandising and presentation standards.
  • Achieves high levels of product quality and freshness.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Achieves strong financial performance.
  • Serves as a best-practice store for other stores in the district to observe and learn from.
  • Provides professional service and training to the home store location at least three business days per week.
Leadership & Management Skills
  • Proven leadership; able to motivate, inspire, and create engagement.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture, values, and philosophies of the organization.
  • Effectively copes with change and leads company change initiatives across the district.
  • Sees things in a broad/strategic perspective, identifies trends and future consequences.
  • Develops improvement plans and programs with store leadership and the District Manager to ensure stores meet objectives.
  • Translates communication between the Store Support Center and store teams.
  • Implements policies and procedures.
  • Recommends solutions to effectively resolve challenges or concerns, using sound judgment consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, applicable government regulation or law.
  • Makes decisions in a manner consistent with the job functions.
  • Shares responsibility for P&L results and performance analysis.
  • Supports programs to control shrink and contain costs at an acceptable level.
  • Reviews key performance indicators with the district team (Department Team Leaders).
  • Reads, understands, analyzes and instructs store teams about income and financial statements; calculates gross margins and productivity measures.
  • Monitors operational standards and follows up on operating performance of each store and store team leader to ensure all stores meet sales, expense, gross profit, and managerial profit contribution and EBITDA objectives.
