Job Summary
Install and maintain production, ancillary, and plant equipment in safe operating condition. Performs general maintenance and preventative/predictive maintenance on a variety of molding, auxiliary and plant support equipment. Applies knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedures to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance and complete necessary repairs. The overall goal is to minimize downtime due to breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance and optimize product quality.
Responsibilities- Adheres to Amcor Rigid Packaging Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Monitor line operation while complying with safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards.
- Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge to maintenance and repair of molding, auxiliary and support equipment.
- Analyze, set‑up and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation of molding equipment and mechanical systems.
- Read mechanical, electrical, hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot circuits, PLC programs and logic.
- Install PLCs, motors, relays, starters and control circuits; perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities.
- Assist with education and training of other employees, including welding, cutting, machining, and use of hand tools.
- Respond to production breakdowns and emergencies in a timely manner, perform repairs, and maintain work area safety.
- Assist engineering in coordination and planning of installations and modifications of existing equipment.
- Document all maintenance activities and keep equipment manuals organized.
- Perform maintenance on all types of plant equipment with reasonable skill and competency.
- Skilled in refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing, vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits, welding and fabrication.
- Read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLC programs, logic, and electrical circuits with reasonable accuracy.
- Work on PLC installation, motor changes, relay and starter installation, and control circuit installation.
- Read hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits.
- Repair, change or upgrade hydraulic equipment while ensuring safety guards are in place.
- High school diploma or equivalent; 7+ years experience in maintenance role preferred.
- Post‑secondary technical or vocational education preferred.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Strong attention to detail and motivation.
- Previous experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic math, computer and organizational skills.
12‑hour rotating shift 4 p.m. – 4 a.m.
Pay range: $29.60 – $34.05 per hour, depending on experience and knowledge.
