Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
Job Summary
Install and maintain production, ancillary, and plant equipment in safe operating conditions. Perform general and preventive maintenance on a variety of molding, auxiliary and plant support equipment. Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory and procedure to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and complete repairs to minimize downtime and optimize product quality.
Responsibilities- Adhere to Amcor Rigid Packaging Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
- Monitor assigned channel operations while complying with safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory in maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive repairs of molding, auxiliary, and support equipment.
- Maintain safe and continuous equipment operation by setting up and maintaining machines and systems, including:
- Mechanical systems - perform maintenance on all plant equipment, refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits, welding and fabrication.
- Electrical systems - read schematics, troubleshoot control circuits and PLC logic, install relays, starters, and replace motors.
- Hydraulic systems - read hydraulic schematics, troubleshoot circuits, repair, upgrade, and maintain equipment.
- Ensure safety guards are installed and maintained.
- Work cooperatively with a team of employees and vendors, providing clear verbal and written instructions.
- Maintain high oral and written communication skills; assist with the education and training of other employees.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Document and perform preventive maintenance (PM) activities.
- Install production and auxiliary equipment following plant standards and local ordinances.
- Respond to production breakdowns and emergencies in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Assist with line changeovers and keep equipment manuals organized and current.
- Interface with employees, vendors, and customers to ensure timely delivery of quality packaging.
- Perform welding, cutting, and machining functions as required for repair or installation activities.
- Act as a maintenance resource for others, analyzing system breakdowns to determine causes and solutions.
- Perform training and direct technical work of other staff as needed.
- Assist engineering in planning and coordinating installations and modifications of existing equipment.
- Interface with outside contractors to support equipment installation and maintenance.
- Stay current with pertinent technology in the field of expertise.
- Perform corrective and preventive actions and effectiveness checks.
- Communicate customer complaints to relevant employees to address product defects.
- Support other job classifications and perform duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager, Supervisor or Leads.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in a maintenance role in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Post‑secondary technical or vocational education preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Motivated with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance mechanic.
- Basic math, computer, and organizational skills.
12‑hour rotating shift (4p.m. to 4a.m.).
SalaryStarting pay: $29.60 – $34.05 per hour, depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Salary range applies to jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements (CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, DC, and remote roles in these locations). Roles outside these jurisdictions may have different compensation.
