Wanted Position

The Maintenance Mechanic conducts repairs to the physical plant and plant equipment, conducts preventative maintenance and project work, and ensures continuous operation of mechanical and electrical systems on mobile and fixed manufacturing equipment.

Shift: 3rd Shift 10:30pm-7:00am. Requires ability to work overtime and weekends.

Ways you will make a difference
  • Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and replace malfunctioning parts or equipment (motors, switches, sensors, input/output boards, controllers, servos, gears, sprockets, chains, knives) using test equipment and meters such as VOM, megger, amp probe, and PC.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, servos, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment to improve efficiency, quality, or operation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures as scheduled.
  • Install change parts (pockets, flap tuckers, film folding shoulders) on production machinery to run a different size, shape, or product.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, programs/ladder logic, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems, identify parts, and learn proper equipment operation.
  • Install new equipment.
  • Identify and correct problems in the assignment area before they become critical, with high supervision.
  • Communicate conditions of equipment by completing maintenance records, transferring knowledge to incoming mechanics at shift change, and informing supervisor of significant problems.
  • Work closely with production personnel to display cooperation.
  • Aim to improve work-related skills by pursuing outside schooling or plant-provided programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills that will make you successful
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to understand detailed instructions.
  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Promote teamwork; possess a good attitude and exhibit flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties to support Ferrara Candy Company business objectives.
Experiences that will support your success
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities, with working knowledge of machinery repair practices, shop practices, hand and power tools, and electrical testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Completed Maintenance Certification.
  • Ability to problem solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.

Compensation

$38.00 per hour plus a $0.58 per hour shift differential.
