Master Forklift Field Service Technician

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Forklift Field Service Technician for our Itasca branch. The position is first shift, M - F, hourly (no flat rate). Field Technicians will be provided a company service van, fuel card, and required paperwork.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform preventive maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
- Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Work and manage workloads independently
- Submit all required documentation in a timely manner
- Maintain company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
- Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance
Compensation: $26 to $42 per hour, depending on location, skillset, education, and experience. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications- At least two years of forklift repair experience, preferably including military or reserve experience with MOS/NEC codes 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM
- Preferred previous field experience
- Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Own tools
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license to operate the company vehicle
- Computer proficiency with HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system
- Intermediate language skills: read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Basic mathematical skills: add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide 10s and 100s, perform calculations with money, weight, volume, and distance
- Intermediate reasoning ability: apply common sense to instructions in written, oral or diagram form; handle problems with multiple concrete variables
- Regular standing, walking, hand use, reaching; frequent talking and hearing; occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Frequent bending and working from prone positions
- No special vision requirements
- Regular lifting up to 10 pounds; frequent lifting 11‑25 pounds; occasional lifting 26‑100+ pounds
- Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; wet or humid conditions; extreme cold or heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration
