Overview

The OTR Driver will operate commercial truck/trailer, tractor trailer or combination vehicle (a vehicle that weighs over 26,001 lbs.) that requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A to pick-up and deliver parcels. AIT/ Spur Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log- ELD and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.

Responsibilities
  • Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations
  • Focus on safety and compliance including the real-time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws
  • Handles general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs
  • Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading
  • Maintain driver hours of service using electronic logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations
  • Maintain compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations
  • Provides timely communication with supervisor/ manager regarding the status of the daily route; including when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out
  • Ensure timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies with time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit
  • May load and unload truck when not driving the truck
  • May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck
  • Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul
  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies
Qualifications
  • Reading and writing English; knowledge of airport codes destinations and basic geography knowledge
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Actively participates in safety policies, activities, and implementations
  • A team player who works well with others
  • A strong work ethic with an appreciation for ownership, independence, accountability, and autonomy in your role

  • Licenses and Certifications
    • CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License; must have a valid CDL A to drive a truck 26,001 lbs. or greater
    • Must be a TSA-certified truck driver and obtain a STA number
    • Maintain a current Department of Transportation Medical Card
    • Have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
    • Be able to pass Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). exam and road test
    • Cargo screening is required if driving in CA
    • No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two moving violations in the past 12 months; violations include seatbelt and cell phone)
    • No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years
    • Has no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation within the past seven (7) years
