HUB Operations Coordinator Overview
The HUB Operations Coordinator is responsible for performing load planning activities and coordinating load assignments. The role monitors inbound and outbound freight at a HUB location, provides guidance to station personnel regarding routings, carrier assignment, and other load planning activities. The coordinator serves as liaison between the freight‑forwarding station and the AIT Middle Mile Network HUB operation. As the representative of the AIT Middle Mile Network team, the coordinator delivers communication, training, and guidance, documents and communicates service failures, provides critiques, and offers additional training to station personnel.
The role includes on‑site customer‑facing responsibilities, with authority to document and communicate service failures, provide critiques, and provide additional training.
- Communicate daily with station managers within the assigned geographic region to encourage and enhance usage of the AIT Middle Mile Network.
- Identify opportunities routed outside the AIT Middle Mile Network and communicate with owning stations to ensure freight is injected into the network where applicable.
- Provide guidance regarding load quality and expectations of operating within the Middle Mile Network HUB operation through daily interaction with assigned location’s dock personnel including supervisors and management.
- Make routing suggestions based on service level requirements and handling shipments of consequence.
- Process timely and accurate updates to the AS400 with departure times and additional information as needed upon departure and arrival at assigned HUB locations.
- Coordinate daily taskings according to priorities, adjusting as necessary as more data is received and protecting service.
- Provide loadouts to HUB Operations Supervisor or station personnel for linehauls scheduled, ensuring proper paperwork is attached including AIT Middle Mile Pre‑Trip Inspection Forms and AIT Middle Mile Activity Cover Sheet.
- Collect information regarding activity prior to shift, during shift and present this information to the HUB Operations Supervisor or Domestic Transportation Manager.
- Proactively communicate with customers (internal and external) regarding shipment status to provide best‑in‑class customer service.
- Conduct investigations regarding misrouted freight, OS&D and other discrepancies as needed.
- Move materials throughout the warehouse using a forklift; perform daily warehouse checks.
- Process inbound and outbound documents, ensuring accuracy and reporting discrepancies as required.
- Process data and information to inform KPI status of HUB Operations in a manner suitable for presentation to internal and external customers, Regional Director level and below.
- Communicate with AIT Middle Mile Network Corporate Operations Team regarding additional adhoc loads and routing requirements as communicated by the HUB Operations Supervisor and/or Domestic Transportation Manager.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision under which the activities outlined as primary responsibilities are fulfilled.
- Train, provide guidance, and lead others, explaining and articulating processes and procedures without documented procedures and providing guidance and direction as needed.
- Occasionally communicate with station managers outside the assigned geographic region to encourage and enhance usage of the AIT Middle Mile Network.
- Develop relationships with LTL carrier partners within the assigned region to facilitate business and problem resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- The wage range for this position is $30.30‑$42.80 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
- Education: High School Diploma (Required);
Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred). - Experience: 3+ years Transportation or Logistics background (Required); 1+ years LTL or HUB Operations experience (Preferred); 1+ years Freight Coordination, Customer Service and related business experience (Preferred); 1+ years Dangerous Goods Handling (Preferred).
