SummaryThe CDL A Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight while maintaining a professional and customer-oriented service.
Key Responsibilities- Drive semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours following 10 hours off-duty runs, often for one week or more.
- Back trailers to the customer dock.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state safety regulations and uphold professional driving behavior.
- Communicate respectfully and efficiently with customer representatives.
- Coordinate with dispatchers.
- Comply with all DOT requirements, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
- Ensure mechanical issues are corrected before driving.
- Swing and secure trailer doors.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Valid CDL A license required.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
- Meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41).
- No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five years.
- No accident involving bodily injury within the last three years.
- Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling.
- Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments.
- Experience handling high-value or sensitive freight preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days if required).
- Hazmat endorsement required.
- Drivers start at $0.65 - $0.68 CPM based on experience.

- Frequent sitting while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices.
- Frequently enter and exit the cab (4–6 feet) multiple times per shift.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1–125 pounds (team lift or equipment-assisted when required).
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
- Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level.
- Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
- Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment.
- Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable).
The role involves alternating between working inside the truck cab and outdoors at customer locations, terminals, and on public roadways. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, diesel fumes, airborne particles, noise, and vibration. Work is frequently performed in busy warehouse yards, loading docks, and urban delivery environments, which may include tight spaces, traffic congestion, and time-sensitive delivery schedules.
