Assistant Director of Student Services

The Assistant Director of Student Services plays a key role in supporting the academic, personal, and co-curricular success of students in the Two-Year MBA and Master of Professional Studies programs. This highly student-facing position, in conjunction with the wider Student Services team, provides support for a diverse population of approximately 750 Ithaca-based professional students and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus partners to foster an inclusive, engaging student experience.

The Assistant Director provides comprehensive academic advising and personal support, helping students navigate degree requirements, course planning, and academic policies. The role also contributes to academic support initiatives, including tutoring coordination and collaboration with academic standards and integrity processes. A strong emphasis is placed on international student engagement, including orientation programming, cultural transition support, and partnership with campus offices on visa-related processes.

In addition, the Assistant Director supports student programming and events, contributes to daily operations through cross-functional collaboration, manages student communications and advising systems, and participates in committee work related to student opportunities. This role is part of a collaborative Student Services team and works closely with partners across admissions, student activities, career management, and other key areas to enhance the overall student experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a broad array of stakeholders to craft and implement collaborative, high-quality academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular programming and events.
  • Experience in program design, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Ability to connect with students of all backgrounds and experience levels; experience advising them on academic, professional, and personal goals.
  • Strong public speaking, writing, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational skills, and detail orientation. Must be able to balance significant complexity and competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information in accordance with University policies and FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to attend meetings and events across campus, often traveling on foot.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed outside of campus to attend conferences, trainings, and/or meetings with stakeholders and external vendors, although travel outside the university is expected to be limited to one or two times a year.
  • Experience working directly with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Higher Education and/or MBA; 3-5 years of experience.
  • Track record of success in a higher education environment and/or deep familiarity with business schools, and particularly graduate and professional students.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM for advising and Qualtrics for survey design, or similar software for those functions.
  • Global experience, such as time living or working abroad and/or experience working with intercultural exchange programs such as study abroad and/or short-term global study.
