CST's at Cayuga Health play a key role in the interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive, compassionate care to the community. They practice at full scope, contributing to program development and care plans in a shared governance environment to enhance patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Standards of Care:
  Maintains operative care standards according to AORN guidelines.
• Preparation and Setup:
  Stocks rooms, cleans equipment, and prepares supplies based on surgeon and anesthesia needs.
• Surgical Support:
  Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures.
• Safety and Infection Control:
  Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
• Accountability and Flexibility:
  Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.

Required

Skills and Experience:

• NBSTSA or NCCT certification OR Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology program, and eligible for certification within 12 months

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Location and Travel Requirements:

• Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
• Day shift, option between 5x8s, 4x10s, and 3x12s. On-Call is on a rotating schedule with a 30 min response time required, on-site call house available.
• 0% - 5% area travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Rate of $30.00 per hour to $42.02 per hour plus benefits, based upon experience
• Sign-on bonus applicable only to those who hold current certification
