Statler Hotel Banquet Cook
The Statler Hotel Banquet Cook is responsible for executing daily prep tasks for banquet functions and the Banfi buffet, including fabricating proteins, cutting vegetables, and preparing menu items using standardized recipes. This role ensures food quality through accurate preparation, monitoring temperatures, and adhering to operational standards while supporting smooth event execution and guest satisfaction. The Banquet Cook provides training and coaching to student employees, collaborates with front-of-house teams to resolve issues, and supports other departments when needed.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, completing prep lists, assisting on the line during breakfast and lunch shifts, and working with Sous Chefs to manage family meals. As part of a 4-diamond hotel team, this role upholds professionalism and a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience. Work schedules are considered variable based on business needs and may require morning, night, weekend, or holiday availability.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred
- 2-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort
- Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Must be organized and self-motivated
- Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials
Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree from an accredited College or University with a focus on Culinary Arts
