Purpose of the Position:
This Temporary Research Aide position supports faculty-led research under the supervision of Nicholas Klein in the Department of City and Regional Planning. The role is mission critical to completing an ongoing research project examining forced car ownership in North America.
This short-term appointment will focus on advancing and finalizing research already in progress. The position requires specialized knowledge of transportation research and prior experience working on similar projects to ensure continuity, accuracy, and timely completion of deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
* Assist in completing a research project focused on forced car ownership in North America.
* Conduct literature reviews and synthesize existing transportation research to support project findings.
* Analyze travel behavior data using econometric methods.
* Write and execute data analysis code in R to support research outputs.
* Support the interpretation of results and contribute to drafting research findings.
* Collaborate with faculty to refine research methodologies and ensure alignment with project goals.
* Document data sources, analytical methods, and outputs for reporting and publication purposes.
* Assist in preparing materials for presentation, publication, or internal review.
Knowledge, Skills, and
Experience:
* Demonstrated knowledge of transportation research and literature, particularly in travel behavior.
* Experience with econometric analysis and quantitative research methods.
* Proficiency in R for data analysis and statistical modeling.
* Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and efficiently on a defined research timeline.
* Experience contributing to academic or applied transportation research projects.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in transportation research is required.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and apply quantitative methods.
* Familiarity with travel behavior analysis and transportation policy topics preferred.
* Ability to work in a hybrid environment and collaborate with faculty as needed.
* Strong organizational and documentation skills to support completion of an active research project.
