Research Technician II
The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Technician II to support cutting-edge biomedical research within the Department of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. This position provides laboratory support through tissue culture, molecular biology, protein purification, and laboratory operations that enable high-quality, reproducible research. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented laboratory professional who enjoys working in a collaborative research environment and contributing to scientific discovery.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining mammalian and insect tissue culture lines, preparing culture media, reagents, and laboratory solutions to support research activities.
- Assisting with molecular biology and protein expression techniques, including molecular cloning, recombinant protein production, and protein purification.
- Supporting laboratory operations by maintaining equipment, organizing supplies, receiving shipments, sterilizing laboratory materials, and ensuring a safe, clean research environment.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records, documenting experimental procedures, and contributing to reproducible, high-quality scientific research.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma with at least two years of relevant laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in a biological, molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell culture laboratory.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to accurately maintain laboratory records and follow established protocols.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team while fostering a respectful work environment.
Important Details about the Position
- This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
- This is a part-time position offering 20hrs/wk.
- We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
- Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
