About The Department
The Cardiometabolic Care Sales Team is at the forefront of US sales efforts for Novo Nordisk’s cardiometabolic product portfolio, providing therapies for diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular event reduction. As a team member, you will connect therapies to new specialties, build advocates, and apply learnings that impact local markets.
The PositionAssumes responsibility for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to promote Novo Nordisk’s portfolio to healthcare professionals and other office staff.
RelationshipsExternally maintains relationships with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and other paramedical customers, as well as current co‑promotion partners. Internally reports to the District Business Manager of the specific sales territory and collaborates regularly with other field‑based employees covering the same geographic area.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact.
- Understands the local payer market, including Medicare, Commercial, and Medicaid benefit designs, Payer Coverage, Prescription Coverage Requirements, Step Therapy, Coverage Gap, Copays, and Deductibles.
- Identifies business opportunities by understanding territory customer groups and affiliations such as IPAs, Medical Groups, Health Systems, and Local Clinics.
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status and assess impact of managed care in the territory.
- Develops and utilizes relationships with specialists, key hospital decision‑makers, and other influential individuals to support purchasing, prescribing, and formulary decisions.
- Researches and tailors account plans based on stakeholder and account business practices.
- Utilizes market understanding and competitive trends to develop and execute territory business plans.
- Builds and maintains business‑relevant relationships with customers: prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, and clinic administrators to drive business impact.
- Demonstrates professionalism and a customer‑focused approach by actively listening, identifying needs, and keeping commitments.
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) to share knowledge and business opportunities.
- Implements the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model during external interactions:

- Uses analytical tools to evaluate territory opportunities and create business plans.
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders to define roles and responsibilities for accountability.
- Controls samples and other company property per policies, and manages discretionary territory budget and marketing promotional program budget.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of disease states, treatment options, and both company and competitor products.
- Engages customers with balanced discussion of approved clinical studies.
- Participates in product and disease state knowledge sharing during meetings, training, conventions, and displays.
Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company safety standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree, and/or Pharm D required.
- Minimum one year of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel) required; experience with sales data/call reporting software ideal.
- Self‑starter who can evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Aptitude for leadership and decision‑making.
- Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and Novo Nordisk’s products; strong learning ability and communication of technical and scientific information.

- Cardiometabolic Care Specialist II – $125,000 to $153,000
- Senior Cardiometabolic Care Specialist – $139,000 to $170,000
Eligible for company bonus and long‑term incentive compensation.
