The Plowright Lab is seeking a part-time, temporary Research Aide to provide entry-level support for ongoing bat-related research. This position focuses on laboratory preparation, sample organization, and data management. The successful candidate will receive wet laboratory training upon hire, which must be completed prior to beginning bench work.

Responsibilities

* Preparing materials for experiments, including filling sample tubes with buffer, labeling consumables, and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies

* Organizing and tracking biological samples to support experimental workflows

* Entering, cross-checking, and maintaining data in Google Sheets, Excel, and Box

* Assisting with general laboratory upkeep, documentation, and other miscellaneous tasks as they arise

* Communicating regularly with the Program Field Manager and [Supervisor] regarding ongoing tasks and priorities

Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* Attention to detail and reliability in repetitive tasks such as labeling, aliquoting, and data entry

* Comfortable working with spreadsheet software (Google Sheets, Excel)

* Ability to follow written and verbal protocols closely

* Ability to work independently after training

* Must be able to complete all required institutional and wet laboratory training prior to beginning work

* Prior laboratory or research experience is not required; coursework or interest in biology, ecology, or related fields is a plus

Additional Information

This is a temporary, part-time position running through August 31, 2026. The expected workload is 10-12 hours per week, with the candidate coming in on regular days for blocks of 2-3 consecutive hours; the exact schedule will be set with the supervisor upon hire. No irregular scheduling, animal contact, or heavy lifting is required. All required safety and compliance training will be provided following hire.

The anticipated pay rate will be between $16.00/hr and $18.00/hr.
