Purpose of the Position:

This Temporary Research Aide position supports faculty-led research under the supervision of Andrea Simitch in the Department of Architecture. The role is mission critical to advancing an ongoing research project focused on developing and organizing an archive of architectural projects spanning over 40 years.

This position contributes to interdisciplinary research across architecture, planning, design technology, and the arts by applying advanced digital tools, experimental methods, and collaborative processes in a studio-based environment. The short-term appointment ensures continuity and timely progress of an active research initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:

* Support the development and organization of a comprehensive archive of architectural projects.

* Develop digital tools, models, and visual materials to support research documentation.

* Conduct material exploration, documentation, and digital production tasks as needed.

* Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data related to architectural projects.

* Prepare diagrams, drawings, and written reports to communicate research findings.

* Assist with project coordination, logistics, and maintenance of research materials.

* Operate studio and lab equipment while adhering to safety standards.

* Collaborate with faculty and research team members and engage with external collaborators as needed.

* Provide guidance or support to other student assistants when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and

Experience:

* Degree in Architecture is required.

* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

* Proficiency in Rhino/Grasshopper and Adobe Creative Suite.

* Familiarity with digital fabrication tools and workflows.

* Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, C#) preferred.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.

* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex research materials and documentation.

Requirements:

* Demonstrated experience supporting architectural or interdisciplinary research projects.

* Ability to contribute to both conceptual and technical aspects of research and documentation.

* Previous experience with research, archival work, or project documentation preferred.

* Availability to work up to 25 hours per week during the appointment period.

* Commitment to maintaining organized, accurate research records and a safe working environment.
