The Institute for Compensation Studies (ICS) at Cornell University School of Industrial has an opening for Temporary Research Aide - Field Canvasser.
The ILR School at Cornell University seeks enthusiastic, people-oriented individuals to assist with a research study focused on delivery drivers and workplace inequality. As a Field Canvasser, you'll work in the field to connect with delivery workers, build trust through authentic conversation, and invite them to participate in a research survey. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on face-to-face interaction, cares about social and economic justice, and wants hands-on experience in community-based research.
This is a temporary, non-academic staff, non-benefits eligible opportunity. Position will require residence in, or travel to, Buffalo, NY and/or Orlando, FL.
What You'll Bring
* Friendly, confident, and persuasive communication style to connect authentically with a diverse range of people
* Strong work ethic, reliability and self-motivation to show up on time and follow through on tasks
* Comfort in approaching strangers and holding one-on-one conversations in outdoor or worksite settings
* Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and work outdoors in varying weather
* Tech proficiency (smartphone, Microsoft Office Suite, data entry app, Google Docs or equivalent)
* Valid driver's license; ability to drive and travel.
Required Qualifications:
* Prior canvassing, door-to-door outreach, community organizing, or sales experience
* Experience working with immigrant or working-class communities
* Interest in labor rights, worker advocacy, or social justice
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
Salary: $22.70/hour
No relocation assistance or visa sponsorship provided for this position.
