Temporary Agricultural Worker
As a member of the Matthew Falise Lab, you will manually harvest potatoes. You will also collect data on the harvest and organize it efficiently for later use. Additionally, you will assist with all aspects of the harvest for the potato breeding project. Other duties include:
- Stacking and organizing seed crates
- Disassembling electric fence lines
- Weeding selected test plots before harvest
- Disassembling irrigation systems
- Using grading lines to collect data
- Taking other measurements on the tubers
- Sampling the harvested tubers for eventual winter experiments
- Performing greenhouse work
We are looking for a talented individual with an excellent work ethic who appreciates the environment and working outside. Specifically, we need someone who has the following:
- High School Diploma and 1+ year of relevant experience working in an agricultural setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work outdoors.
- Ability to work independently once provided sufficient direction.
- Ability to work alone or with a team and problem solve as needed.
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position and have reliable transportation as well as have and maintain a valid and unrestricted New York State driver's license and be cleared to drive for university business.

- Experience in an agricultural setting.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
This is a two-month, temporary, full-time position at 39 hours/week that is contingent upon available work, funding, and performance. This on-site position is located in Ithaca, New York.
Compensation is $22.70/hour.
No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
