HEOP Peer Mentor

HEOP Peer Mentors assist OAOA students with their academic, social, and personal development while at the College and provide general support for the Office. They are also responsible for fostering community and trust within the OAOA community. This position is an opportunity to build professional skills, increase your engagement with the OAOA community, and have a positive impact on your OAOA peers.

This position is a student employment position with up to 10 hours each week from August 2026 through May 2027. HEOP Peer Mentors report to the OAOA Assistant Director. Membership in HEOP is required for this position.

Peer mentors are accountable for the following:

  • Collaborating with team members and professional staff to assess OAOA student needs.
  • Providing academic and socio-emotional support to all OAOA students.
  • Planning, marketing, and hosting community-building events for OAOA students.
  • Maintaining office cleanliness and aesthetics; supporting professional staff in general office tasks.
  • Fostering a welcoming & inclusive environment and modeling integrity and respect for each other, OAOA, and IC.
  • Adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies established by OAOA and IC.
  • Participating in professional development, including mandatory SLI sessions, team meetings, PM training sessions, and supervisor 1:1s.
  • Representing OAOA through participation in OAOA and non-OAOA events.
  • Other responsibilities & tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong time-management & communication skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a participant in HEOP.
  • Minimum GPA (prior semester, not cumulative): 2.4.
  • Demonstrates ability to build trusting connections with peers & effectively influence behavior changes

Compensation: $16/hour; hours are 10/week while classes are in session, August 2026 – May 2027. PMs will be expected to work some evening & weekend hours to meet the needs of OAOA students. Additional hours may be available during breaks on a TBD basis.
