Job Overview
The General Office Assistant-E (GOA-E) provides comprehensive clerical services in all aspects of processing medical record information in the Health Records department. This role supports the health care team by creating, maintaining, locating, retrieving, transferring, repairing, and providing medical record copies and data entry.
The GOA-E operates under lead worker oversight from the GOA-8 or directly by the Medical Record Examiner Supervisor 1 at this location.
Responsibilities- Process medical record information and files.
- Retrieve, transfer, maintain, and repair records.
- Enter data and provide medical record copies to various requestors.
High school completion.
Experience- General Office Assistant 5:
No specific type or amount of experience required. - General Office Assistant 6:
One year of administrative support experience. - General Office Assistant E7:
Two years of administrative support experience, including one year equivalent to the intermediate level.
Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants with a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.

New hires complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) of either 40 or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on level of offender contact, followed by additional online training.
