Overview
The Record Office is responsible for interpreting court documents, managing the intake and release of all prisoners, coordinating transfers within and outside the Department, and processing pending felony charges and outstanding warrants. It ensures daily prisoner counts are accurate and prepares daily reports for facility staff.
ResponsibilitiesResearch, analyze, and report data from MDOC and external databases, including the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN), Offender Management Network Information system (OMNI), Offender Management System (OMS), and Michigan Criminal Justice Information Network (MiCJIN). Perform data entry and file maintenance, and handle technical duties related to prisoner misconduct.
EducationCompletion of high school.
Two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may substitute for the experience requirement.
Experience- Departmental Technician 7:
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7‑level in state service, or one year as a technician or paraprofessional at entry level. - Departmental Technician 8:
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8‑level in state service, or one year as a technician or paraprofessional at entry level. - Departmental Technician E9:
One year of experience supervising administrative support activities equivalent to the 9‑level in state service, or two years as a technician or paraprofessional with one year of intermediate level experience.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
