LocationThis is a hybrid position (remote/onsite). Minimum required onsite days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at the Parnall Office in Jackson, MI. Candidates must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate (a relocation package is available for qualifying candidates).
General Summary ofJob Responsibilities
The Executive Director of Strategy and Projects will develop and execute CMS Energy’s supply‑chain strategy and sourcing execution. The role leads the strategic business office and sourcing teams, monitors strategic implications of business‑environment changes, provides internal consulting to senior executives on high‑priority assignments, and conducts supply‑chain analytics and due diligence. Key duties include benchmarking market performance, developing strategic initiatives for optimal performance and P&L results, managing regulated strategic projects, and creating new supply‑chain offerings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Build relationships with strategy peers in the utility industry and leading industry analysts, understand strategic impacts from business environment scanning, and recommend adjustments to CMS Energy’s strategy as needed.
- Lead the Supply‑Chain Strategy and Procurement teams—researching, sourcing, evaluating, and executing innovative category strategies; manage the overall project portfolio; ensure quality control; maintain client satisfaction; support team development.
- Stay abreast of the company’s business environment through an analytically rigorous signpost and scenario‑analysis process.
- Manage CMS Energy’s strategic planning process—enable effective decision‑making; recommend and mobilize strategies across business units; partner with stakeholders for the annual planning process.
- Provide strategic consulting on supply‑chain assignments to the senior executive team; manage cross‑functional teams to develop robust analytical insights and recommendations; partner with stakeholders for actionable decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience advising and guiding in a C‑level executive environment.

- Astute strategist.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, supply chain, or related field with a minimum of twelve (12) years of increasing levels of experience in leadership, business, and/or executive‑level consulting.
- (OR) Associate’s degree in a related field with a minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience.
- (OR) High school diploma with a minimum of sixteen (16) years of experience.
