Position: Project Coordinator (Detroit/Redford)

R.W. Mercer Co. is a family‑owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations – six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn‑key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting all levels of associates throughout the company and outside vendors in effort to secure successful completion of all construction activities. This role will require excellent customer service, strong communication, great attention to detail, accuracy, teamwork, and the ability to expeditiously multi‑task numerous projects and assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in soliciting projects to bid including submission of qualification statements.
  • Assist in distributing Invitations to Bid.
  • Assist in distributing plans and documents for bidding.
  • Assist with preparing work scopes and bidding specifications for subcontractors.
  • Attendance at pre‑bid meetings.
  • Distribution of minutes, addenda and RFI’s.
  • Assist with assembly and submittal of final bid.
  • Assist in assembling subcontractor and vendor purchase orders and change orders.
  • Attend progress meetings, prepare, and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assemble prevailing wage documentation from all subcontractors as necessary.
  • Assist in close‑out and job costing procedures as required.
  • Preparation of O & M Manuals as required.
  • Prepares correspondence and other documents as required.
  • Typing letters, reports, labels, and general correspondence.
  • Working within project management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet constant deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or knowledge of the construction industry helpful, but not required.

Physical:
Primary functions require maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; possibly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach and twist; push, pull, lift and/or carry light to moderate amounts of weight; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision:
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing:
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
